The Sharp HT-SBW53121 is a Dolby Atmos soundbar with a wireless subwoofer, built in the 3.1.2 layout: three front channels, one sub, and two up-firing drivers that bounce the height layer off your ceiling. Sharp rates the system at 182 W RMS - 102 W from the bar (4 × 18 W plus 2 × 15 W) and 80 W from the subwoofer. It decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X natively over HDMI rather than simulating them.
The bar covers 700 Hz to 20 kHz. Everything below that belongs to the subwoofer, which runs 20 to 700 Hz. The sub is not an add-on for people who like bass, it is half the frequency range of the system. It pairs itself: plug both units in and they find each other, with a manual WLPAIR routine in the menu as a fallback. Keep it in the same room, within 6 m of the bar, a few inches off the wall and out of a cabinet.
Add the HT-SPR52021-BK wireless rear surround speakers and the system goes from 3.1.2 to 5.1.4: two more surround channels and two more height channels, behind the seating instead of in front of it. That is the practical case for a soundbar with rear speakers as an option rather than a sealed one-box system.
The HDMI TV port is eARC/ARC. Two further HDMI ports take a games console or a Blu-ray player and pass the picture straight to the television, putting the bar inside the signal chain instead of beside it. Optical, 3.5 mm AUX, USB and Bluetooth cover the rest. Atmos and DTS:X arrive over HDMI only. Set your TV or source to Pass Through Auto or Bitstream and the bar displays DOLBY ATMOS or DTS:X when it locks on. A high-speed HDMI cable is included.
Six EQ presets: Music, Movie, Voice, Game, Sport and Night, plus Custom with its own bass and treble trim. The 13-key remote takes two AAA batteries, included. The bar arrives on raised feet sized to clear a Sharp EQ or FQ series TV stand; low feet are in the box, and wall brackets if you want it off the furniture. Mounted, keep the top of the bar at least 100 mm below the bottom of the TV and remove the raised feet first.
