The Sharp PS-914 is a portable speaker for parties that one person carries in one hand. An 8-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter run as a 2-way system rated at 20 watts RMS, with a bass-reflex duct behind the grille to give the low end somewhere to go. The whole front panel lights up, five multi-colour flashing modes plus a strobe, cycled on the LIGHT button, or switched off entirely when you would rather just have the music. Five EQ presets sit on one button (Flat, Pop, Classic, Jazz, Rock) and holding that same button turns on the Super BASS effect. At 13.89 pounds with a moulded handle across the top, it moves from the kitchen to the deck to the trunk of a car without a second person and without wheels.

It comes as a complete karaoke kit, not as a speaker to be purchased separately. A wired microphone is in the box, the 6.3 mm (1/4-inch) mic jack is on the back panel, and the MIC CONTROL button cycles through microphone volume, echo depth and a four-step key adjustment, so a singer can move the song into a range they can actually hit. A moulded smartphone holder on the top panel keeps the lyrics where you can read them. That is what makes it a portable karaoke speaker rather than a speaker with a jack on the back. Everything you need to start singing is already in the box.

Bluetooth 5.4 handles the phone. Sharp rates the link at about 32 feet (10 metres) in open air, and the speaker shows up as “SHARP PS-914” when you pair; the password, if one is asked for, is 0000. The USB port plays MP3 files straight off a stick (FAT16 or FAT32, up to 32 GB, 32–320 kbps) with repeat-one, repeat-all, repeat-folder and shuffle. A 3.5 mm aux input takes anything with a headphone jack, and the built-in FM tuner auto-scans and stores 20 presets across 87.5 to 108.0 MHz, which makes it a Bluetooth speaker with FM radio for a garage or a workshop where streaming is not the point. The 7.4 V 2,000 mAh battery runs about 6 hours and recharges in about 4 hours over USB-C.

Two of them make a real stereo pair

Pair one PS-914 to your phone, switch a second one to Bluetooth, hold the BT PAIRING button on either unit, and the two link themselves — one display reads “tS-L”, the other “tS-r”, and you are running left and right channels instead of one mono box in the corner. Volume, EQ, track skip, Super BASS and the lights all stay controllable from either speaker. Two PS-914s cost less than one 50-watt party speaker and cover a room the way a stereo pair actually should.
